[snes] The owner of a game store up by my bf has offered to change the battery in my copy of Super Mario All-Stars for like $8 so I don't have to hunt down a wii copy ;;
ð•ŧ𝖍𝖆𝖓𝖙𝖔𝖒 ð•ģ𝖎𝖛𝖊
partly so we can record for youtube stuff but also because that cartridge holds some serious sentimental value for me
ð•ŧ𝖍𝖆𝖓𝖙𝖔𝖒 ð•ģ𝖎𝖛𝖊
my brothers and I played all the time when I was little and they came up to visit us
ð•ŧ𝖍𝖆𝖓𝖙𝖔𝖒 ð•ģ𝖎𝖛𝖊
and I was always so jealous of how good they were but they were like 9 years older than me so
ð•ŧ𝖍𝖆𝖓𝖙𝖔𝖒 ð•ģ𝖎𝖛𝖊
but this is that same cartidge, I never got rid of it and now it won't erase my games anymore.

nice. I have Super Mario All Stars on SNES too
ð•ŧ𝖍𝖆𝖓𝖙𝖔𝖒 ð•ģ𝖎𝖛𝖊
It's SUCH a good bundle of great Mario games

I haven't touched it since I realized the battery was failing, I almost cried happy tears when he offered

ah yeah. those old cartridge batteries do degrade after a few years. happened to a lot of my old game boy games

I didn't realize there were batteries in the catridges
𝓐ð“ŋð“Šð“·ð“―ð“ēð“ī𝓊
but I am so glad they offered
ð•ŧ𝖍𝖆𝖓𝖙𝖔𝖒 ð•ģ𝖎𝖛𝖊
Yup! I only found out a few years ago but there are batteries in NES, SNES, N64, and gameboy cartridges. Probably in GBA too? I never paid a lot of attention to GBA though (LOL)
𝓐ð“ŋð“Šð“·ð“―ð“ēð“ī𝓊
WELP, I guess I will find out if my GBA ones start failing (LOL)
ð•ŧ𝖍𝖆𝖓𝖙𝖔𝖒 ð•ģ𝖎𝖛𝖊
he was so nice, he asked if there was anything we were looking for and I commented that I was looking for All-Stars since my SNES one was on its last legs and he just "Oh, I can replace that."
𝓐ð“ŋð“Šð“·ð“―ð“ēð“ī𝓊
GBA and N64 were the first ones we owned
ð•ŧ𝖍𝖆𝖓𝖙𝖔𝖒 ð•ģ𝖎𝖛𝖊
my nana bought my brothers and I a NES when I was a baby so I started early

My parents were worried I would never get anything done if I had a system when I was little
𝓐ð“ŋð“Šð“·ð“―ð“ēð“ī𝓊
which, in hindsight..... fair
𝓐ð“ŋð“Šð“·ð“―ð“ēð“ī𝓊
It's kind of like them worring that I would set things on fire with an easy bake oven. I thought this was dumb until as an adult I remembered that I caught my sheets on fire with a reading lamp.

My parents Know.

Luckily, my reading ability wasn't good enough to keep me playing games constantly. And when nanny taught me to read, I spent more time with books than games.
𝓐ð“ŋð“Šð“·ð“―ð“ēð“ī𝓊
excellent
ð•ŧ𝖍𝖆𝖓𝖙𝖔𝖒 ð•ģ𝖎𝖛𝖊
... my parents wished I was hooked to games then. They had to ban me from book stores because I always found something new
ð•ŧ𝖍𝖆𝖓𝖙𝖔𝖒 ð•ģ𝖎𝖛𝖊
games would last longer than my books XD
𝓐ð“ŋð“Šð“·ð“―ð“ēð“ī𝓊
Mom had to make a 'no books at the dinner table' rule for me
𝓐ð“ŋð“Šð“·ð“―ð“ēð“ī𝓊
right? I had to actually talk to people
