1. I don't understand what makes the difference between a successful mount attack and a failed one

I mash triangle and move to a different spot when the indicator turns red

sometimes it succeeds, sometimes it fails, I don't see any pattern

you need to brace!

bracing removes a shitton of your stamina, when you run out of stamina you're thrown off.

I heard that bracing was worse than shifting to a different spot

how do I know if I need to brace or not

you can probably also tell with animation cues when you get good enough but

2. I had Legiana high enough on the tracking level to see the eye icon showing if it's aware of me or raging, which I thought was the tracking level that let you see if a monster was weakened

but I kept checking the minimap and it showed no skulls right up until the moment it died

then I checked my monster research screen and it shows the scoutfly level as barely 1?

so I still don't understand, like, basic shit about how scoutflies work it's a total crapshoot and the research levels screen still makes no sense to me at all

3. Apparently I broke off a Legiana part and it gave me a Capture Paolumu investigation, I've killed two HR Legianas through expeditions and I still don't have any leggy quests

the only thing I want to do right now is get leggy gear and it just refuses to let me do it without waiting on expeditions and I can't figure out why

maybe HR Legiana is 7 stars so I can't do it yet or something

for what it's worth i don't quite get scoutfly levels either

re: mounting, the white circle around the mini-map will start to tint red wayyyy before the red vignetting actually appears on the screen, that's when you want to swap to a different body part

and monsters will have specific moves which will knock you off even if you're bracing, usually slamming themselves against a wall, and in those cases moving to a different part is crucial
