They have a bad rep from early dentistry pre local anasthetic and modern dentistry techniques.

Also, a lot of dentists are very experienced with anxiety. A lot of people have anxiety re dentists.

Also if you put on fresh gauze and smash wet black tea bags between your back gums against the gauze the bleeding will slow faster

Ask your dentist ahead of time if there's something you can do to see if you'll have a reaction. Maybe there's a new blood test I don't know about or they can give you one before they start the surgery to see if you react.
