just got back from Pacific Rim Uprising! Thoughts and probably spoilers inside

Not a bad movie, but not great either

It takes way too long to actually feel like Pacific Rim, though there are some cool moments once it gets there

but it lacks a lot of the weight that the first movie had and spreads itself far too thin

the entire subplot with the cadets is virtually a waste of time, you don't really care about any of them by the time it's all said and done

ONE OF THEM DIED and I didn't care

also the movie literally ends with someone shouting "we did it!!" after the final battle and then... hard cut to the title logo

Newt was aight, his plot actually interested me once it got going

there are ads all over the NYC subway and some of the bus stops but I didn't see any online
