RE: drugs -- it actually starts in 9's run, (IN THE BOOKS) There was a big thing about 9 refusing to artificially dope up on chemicals/etc.

in the case of New New York it was because 1) the drugs killed everyone 2) they were ignoring reality around them by getting high/numb instead 3) it then kills Jack :||||||||| After a couple billion+ years
