According to what the advisor told me BUT he hasn't confirmed it yet when I asked him again.

Mind you, I have no idea how the hell I will get to 3 pages less since it already feels stripped to the bone, but... 3 pages is better than 8 pages or whatever

I suspect my advisor may in fact be sympathetic to my plight but he doesn't want to get yelled at by the examiner for letting past an overly long text

...dammit, for a moment I thought I was already down to just one page left, but I was fooled by the way the list of references (3 pages) popped up after the end of the main text. Still two pages, alas!
