‘Black Panther’ Is Not the Movie We Deserve

Although i know most people might disagree i think this is a really thoughtful alternative take and worth reading

(And since it doea matter, yes the author of the article is black)

i think a lot of what he says speaks to whh Black Panther was popular across a really broad audience....it still shies away from certain politics or commentary that would be too alienating at home

for better or worse

I haven't seen BP yet but there's definitely a lot of food for thought in there

i dont think its a right or wrong, but its honestly an interesting take that provides a lot to think about

For what my white opinion is worth, from what I could see the story of Killmonger was presented as the result of a terrible sin on the part of T'Chaka, and an allegory for the consequences of their inaction

Erik had all the potential to be as successful as his cousins, and they left him to languish in poverty and oppression and that lead him to this path

And ultimately the fault for that lies with Ross and his ilk who took advantage of this intelligent, resourceful, talented young man and turned him into a ruthless killer

but the story is told from the POV of Wakandans so that part is kind of soft-pedaled
