[pet illness] HE'S OKAY but apparently doggo is in the hospital

Cuddly Cactus
he's been having these episodes where it looked like his legs were giving out or he was losing his balance since like Christmas?

Cuddly Cactus
and he's seen a few different vets at our usual clinic

Cuddly Cactus
finally the old guy who actually knows what he's talking about said "you need to take him to a specialist here's the info" because they just couldn't figure it out

Cuddly Cactus
mom had an appointment for the 1st of March because that's the first they had but like... he went face first into his water bowl while I was home over the week

Cuddly Cactus
weekend even

Cuddly Cactus
so I guess she took today off work and took him to the specialist through the ER

Cuddly Cactus
turns out he has an irregular heart and he hasn't been losing his balance he's been fainting

Cuddly Cactus
they're keeping him overnight to get his meds sorted and if all is well he'll get picked up tomorrow evening

Cuddly Cactus
and should be pretty much fine once medicated properly

ᴠᴏʟᴋᴀʀɪɴ
oh no, pupper!

ᴠᴏʟᴋᴀʀɪɴ
I'm glad he's okay but damn, that's scary

Cuddly Cactus
yeahhhh and I can't help but think our usual vet maybe should have caught this sooner? like I know they don't have a dog EKG like the specialist does but still?

Cuddly Cactus
I'm not their biggest fan. it took them forever to figure out his food allergies too.

ᴠᴏʟᴋᴀʀɪɴ
Yeeeah, our local vets are folk we're not fans of. We just can't trust them. We travel almost halfway down the county to go to another vets but they're wonderful

Cuddly Cactus
see they've always been great with the cats it's just with the dog we've had a problem

ᴠᴏʟᴋᴀʀɪɴ
strangely enough, we have the same problem. we had our cats registered with them (but then again, they'd been with them for years) but when mum got the puppers, we decided to not go with them.

𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 ☆
oh no baby!!

𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 ☆
I'm glad they were able to figure out what's up!

ᴠᴏʟᴋᴀʀɪɴ
before my gran got Marley, she had another staffordshire bull terrier. after going in for a spay, they failed to realise the dog had brain damage from the anaesthetic despite the dog literally screaming in pain.

Cuddly Cactus
oh man

ᴠᴏʟᴋᴀʀɪɴ
my granparents took the dog home with the vets saying 'oh we thought she'd be okay once she'd seen you' and still not clicking something was wrong and it was only when my mum could hear the dog screaming over the phone they took her back to the vets and they realised.

Cuddly Cactus
yikes

Cuddly Cactus
See our place has the one old dude who knows what's up but also has a lot of young vets that rotate through there and we haven't had much luck with them

ᴠᴏʟᴋᴀʀɪɴ
there was also another incident where they put a dog under to do neuter him and only then realised he'd already been done.

Cuddly Cactus
but they really don't like it when you ask for a specific vet

Cuddly Cactus
um. I think that ones pretty obvious

ᴠᴏʟᴋᴀʀɪɴ
like, a female dog, sure. maybe could have missed it. BUT A MALE DOG.

ᴠᴏʟᴋᴀʀɪɴ
so when mum got the sausages, she was like fuck that and would rather drive further to another vets.

Cuddly Cactus
yeahhh

ᴠᴏʟᴋᴀʀɪɴ
and this place is always so clean too! it actually smells like clean

Cuddly Cactus
that's good

ᴠᴏʟᴋᴀʀɪɴ
it's weird, i do really like that chemical clean smell? i'm like "ah. clean. nice."

Cuddly Cactus
update: doggo is home from the hospital

𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 ☆
yay!

Cuddly Cactus
apparently the girls working at the pharmacy got a kick out of filling a prescription for "Ziggy Banas"

𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 ☆
ahahaha that's so cute
