It went really well! I wound up cutting the encounter at the end for time, but the story got to wrap up anyway - I'd planned to be able to take the fight out.
Couple of massively improvised scenes, they fell for a lot of the traps, which was fun, and the 14-year-old player who does Nano with her dad was great to watch as she put the story together. All the new players had a lot of fun and everyone asked if I wanted to build it into a campaign.
Several old veteran players said I was a really great GM, and I really felt like I'd learned a lot since 6 years ago from watching CR and it felt like an overall better game than I've done before. Very good time.
Yeah! Several said they were spot on and loved the interpretation. Didn't get into too many spells since I had to cut out the big encounter at the end, but they liked being able to reference them so easily
BOY. I'm glad it went off so well. It was very heavily story-based, so it was dependent upon them caring about what was going on. Luckily it worked out. I'm ALSO really proud of one of my traps they fell for. I was thinking they might skip it because it just seemed very conspicuous, but NO. TWO people at the SAME time in TWO different traps. :} It was great.
Of course, now I'm exhausted, past the point of hungry where anything sounds good, plagued with a headache, and I have to run the church service tomorrow, AND I've got a concert tomorrow night, too
But also, can I say.... and I know I'm behind on this, but..... Nimona is great
