If you are going all that way stay a little while longer! Check into Iceland Air. If you stay for a weekend in Iceland and then fly on to NYC you can get airfare for super super cheap. My husband does it in reverse NYC-Iceland-London. March is the cheapest time

The Intrepid is pretty cool. I drive by it all the time but honestly I have never been. Weird how we take for granted things that are close.
