Yeah, the audio/visual and the writing of FF9 are still rock solid today, but hoofa doofa it plays super slow compared to newer things.

yeah, a huge part of the game pacing is that battle intros are super swoopy and dramatic in part to mask PSX loading times, so on things without loading times they needed an option to push past them quicker
