Obligatory 50 shades comment. Obviously the solution is to write really bad fanfic and then find and replace the names.

ngl though the current state of social media and stuff-sharing is so visual biased.

I'm sure I remember a lot more anecdotes about fanfic writers finding successful writing careers back in the lj and before times which were kinder to written work.
