Liquorice & peppermint tea This tea, is SO MUCH NOPE FROM ME, I can't even begin to Nope enough

I thought I had an idea of what it would be like (I'm not a licorice fan but I'd heard it didn't taste of licorice, and I like natural licorice root), but instead, it like, punches the edges and underside of my tongue with INTENSE sweetness, like saccharine. Even just a tiny sip. SO BAD. I don't know what to do with it, I can't drink it tho.

Yeah, I got some spice teas and they're sweet too, and there isn't a reason for them to be that I can find. I don't even add sugar or sweetners.

o man 😦 that sounds awful

Also, apparently there is a natural sweetener used in some teas that work like a laxitive if you drink too much - think its Senna?

/usr/sbin/ennui
liquorice tea is naturally sweet

/usr/sbin/ennui
that's why it's often used in herbal tea mixtures to give it a sweet taste

/usr/sbin/ennui
personally, i abhor the stuff

Fearyfox(Reyn)
Ah, okay - never found any, so haven't had it - though I don't like peppermint at all, so...

🧜♀️Nivaya🌟
Yeah, it's the licorice itself that's causing the sweetness (the only ingredients are licorice root and peppermint) I just hadn't expected, it's weird, like, the particular parts of my tongue it affected, it made me seriously uncomfortable, it was SO weird.

/usr/sbin/ennui
the liquorice plant is even called "sweet wood" in german.

Fearyfox(Reyn)
I didn't know that either. I just know I love the stuff [though I get the salty licorice]

Do you like the smell of the bags? If you do - maybe throw them in a sock drawer or something?

🧜♀️Nivaya🌟
Saiyge
: That's a really nice idea! Alas tho, no. They smell kinda bleh. Which I think actually comes down to what a large part of the problem with the tea is - it doesn't have any aroma. Just like....tongue punching sweetness.

Saiyge
ewww

Sometimes when I am working on a project - a hand made THING, I will crack open a bunch of herbal tea bags and put them in the container that holds the supplies and WIP stuff

Saiyge
It imparts a really light, non offensive smell to things.

Saiyge
And it goes away really quickly if the person receiving it hates it

Saiyge
But if they don't like the smell of say, Constant Comment Tea, Then we don't need to be friends.

err "crack open" I meant the wrapper, not the bag itself because.. eek
