yeah these are big concepts to drop on a kid and Enoch spent most of his life basically unable to voice them to anyone because they'd think he's insane or a blasphemer or their region simply didn't have anything like the Eden story to get the concept in the first place?

it's really funny because the first time the school forced him out (which iirc was the first time a no-shelter building actually forced anyone out in the game) his immediate thought was "what if I prevented myself from leaving"

also Enoch has a bundle of issues tied to this too, to nobody's surprise I'm sure

for the curious, Enoch has literally been tortured in hell in canon. House managed to accidentally link himself to this trauma by repeatedly dismissing its intensity (due to it being fictional from his perspective) and at the same time insisting that anyone would deserve such a thing, basically tearing open a wound and then shoving it into a tub of salt.

He avoided talking to House for a loooong time after that, except when he was concerned for his safety

It was looking for a while like his act of rebellion in torture tower did away with this trigger-by-proxy thing but it turns out it's just improved rather than fixed.
