I have absolutely said this before but it bears repeating that you do a really good job of taking a pretty limited amount of canon material and extrapolating out from it in a way that feels natural and logical. Silent protagonists are real hard to play but Enoch does very much feel like an extension of the character we see in the game
And because repeating myself like that is a cop out I also really enjoy how willing you are to run with El Shaddai's very weird take on history and mythology and how that bounces off of other peoples' worlds and expectations
It helps that there's more to El Shaddai than the game at this point and Enoch has more direct dialogue and actions in other works but...I can't think of a single major thing the novel and manga have done that I hadn't already predicted at least in part from the game so. Still very much a valid and very flattering point, thank you so much!
I love how you seem to put more thought into Castiel than his writers ever did? Beyond the cultural context thing I did in your plurk, too, you keep his character consistent, you look at canon events and work to connect them to others
(where I'm not sure the writers did - binge-drinking and heavy drug use is often a shorthand for "this character is heavily depressed" and while I haven't watched, you going "it's stimulation-seeking" makes it much more interesting than the writing cliche.)
anyway idk if this is treading ground I've done before and I'm sorry if I'm saying the same things a billion times because I do just genuinely forget? But I love your Cas <3
Seconding the above. You've got a gift in making characters feel like people. It's all the little touches, from having figured them out and what would make them tick, extrapolating from canon like that, to your writing style, how you note things like tone and expression. He's easy to picture, and he's convincing. The way you phrase things lends itself
very well to following along effortlessly - you know how he's feeling, and you can tell why; as far removed from our own lives as his problems with things like immortality might be, you present those things in a way that makes them easy to grasp, and follow, and end up tearing up over and not everyone can manage that so well.
I really enjoy how present his struggles and motivations are in everything Enoch does and how he is, even if it’s just everyday interaction. I love how you humanize him not only through what he does or says but also in the ways he interacts with others.
I'm really bad at these and we haven't RP'd in a while but I really like how approachable and friendly you are OOC, as well as how fleshed out and detailed you make sure your characters are, from OCs to characters like Enoch, you really bring everyone to life.
you'd make a great GM! You're very good at laying out a setting and working little hooks into the description like things on tables or interesting screen displays or kids being rambunctious, and you populate these scenes so well too! I'm jealous of your ability to handle so many characters in one scene.
caffettiera
aaaaaaa fun fact I was so worried about that thread for its subject matter, I've seen people run out of games for similar incidents with characters that don't get it so I'm so glad I managed to get entertaining instead of offensive
but anyway Flynn is such a charming character! And I love how it's a natural sort of silliness he's got, too, like despite coming from a canon that pokes fun at tropes he himself is not at all trope-reliant.
Cherry
: lmao I was in the same boat to be honest when everybody started calling out Flynn's rules, i'm glad running with his natural mortification worked for that
Anyway back to the praise at hand FRITZ I love how active you were in branching out and getting CR with a wide variety of people with Kurloz. It can be easy to be hesitant when you're playing from a weird canon like Homestuck and I am so glad you tagged Katherine because those were some great threads :3
crashtheclouds thank you! I'll be honest sometimes I wonder if his time in the game hasn't like...made him dull or anything or weakened his sense of character? I'm glad to hear he's still solid!
My House binge so far has taught me that your grasp on Wilson is great, because there's a lot going on with him and absolutely none of yours sounds off whatsoever.
haecceityofanelfthis is my favorite thing about his canon's portrayal like goddamn. He can be really noble and it absolutely can be an unquestionably good thing?
And there are a few pitfalls that it seems like it would be really easy to fall into with a character like him that you just. don't. He comes off as a solid character instead of being simplified into tropes or quirks.
tbqh I keep side-eyeing my tags when there're more than like, two of my chars bouncing off each other. finding the right balance between "yes there are multiple chars here, and they wouldn't ignore each other; doing so would be OOC" and "gotta leave the other person's char(s?) opportunity to cut in"/"need to be mindful of the time things take" is...
...well, it's still tricky for me, I think? but haaah, I kinda started out RPing where I'd handle all but the one or two chars the other person had. the world, all the NPCs and named chars, all of it. and I sucked so bad, imho. it was great.
