[rp] I kind of....want to play a character from Call the Midwife (YES, I KNOW.) but I'm intimidated by real world historical backdrops for my Sci fi/fantasy RP hobby

I feel like as long as they're a character with plenty of depth, you'll be fine. For instance, fantasy characters never encountered technology before they go to sci fi settings.

I play a lot of characters from mundane settings, or setting where everything is really foreign to them, and honestly you can have them adjust to it! There's probably always going to be new things, but it's not a constant state of them being baffled by everything.
