the new dreamers bill actually looks pretty good for the most part. there are just some additions to it that many on the left will likely object to (mainly, that Dreamers who become legal can't petition for their relatives to come to the US, which I can understand WHY they put that in, but I also see why others are cranky over it)
"But we can bury it?" the prankster responded. "I'm so embarrassed. It's fairly specialist stuff, half naked women on a trampoline, standing on legoscenes, the tag for the movie was #standingOnTheLittlePeople "
"Much of the Island was destroyed, with billions of dollars owed to Wall Street and the banks which, sadly, must be dealt with." why is that even relevant
to remind them of their place, I guess, can't have them thinking that they won't get sucked dry by bloated parasites that contribute nothing to society.
The whole NFL thing just boggles me. How can anyone possibly interpret it as anything other than "oh noes, black people are making a political statement and we can't have that"?
On one hand I want to shame the NFL for Blacklisting the dude that started it, but on the other I'm like: FUCK TRUMP DO WATCHA WANT DURING THE ANTHEM. MAKE A TRUMP SUPPORTER NOT ABLE TO ENJOY ANYTHING THEY LOVE.
Not to mention the statement in question on its own merits. Apparently "could the police maybe be less violent please" is the message Trump rabidly wants to be on the record as wanting to stomp on.
You really wanna go to war with the league that is bold enough to make sundays for September-February their day in a christian dominated country? Be my guest.
I appreciate that even some of trumps buddies are like... You are the president of the United States, don't you have more important things you could be doing?
If people kneeling during the national anthem in protest for a noble cause is enough to make people want to quit their favorite sport team, their money is not worth it anyway
yeaaah I had a couple of coworkers claiming that angle in the break room the other day. one's father was a vet, the other has military family members (I forgot to what extent) and they both got really cranky over kneeling to the anthem b/c the vets in their family risked their lives and deserve respect
I didn't ask them since I didn't want to escalate things right before shift was about to start. but on the TV was some women's talk show with Sharon Osbourne, forget the title, and they were discussing as a group the kneeling protest thing?
and even after one of the people on the show sided with the players in a very eloquently worded defense, the two coworkers started muttering and bitching about how they really needed to get input on how military/vets feel
If people are offended, then they don't understand how the whole thing works. Veterans died for the freedom to quietly protest during the national anthem. If the person is upset, then they misunderstand how the Constitution works.
I'm glad for that article, there were some coworkers discussing this in "protest on your own time, not during the anthem" and just... I already know they're racist, but lord i needed that article to cleanse my brain
And "weh weh keep politics out of sports they should do that on their own time" and it's like, idk, they're not doing it during the game itself, they're not being harmful
A lot don't even know that they're being told that argument so that it overrides their thought processes with emotions that have absolutely no place in this discussion.
I know some who aren't like that, but I know a few who are all "I served this country so therefore you don't get to disagree with the things I agree with!"
On the flipside, I know some vets who aren't self-righteous prick who are of the mind "I fought for this country so you could have the freedom you do" and fully support protests and shit
