and i like his comment that Tifa's being sarcastic with Cloud in the line about him walking out on his childhood friend, which I always interpreted as a pretty straightforward blurt. making her be sarcastic is more interesting.

the game's editing was done very scrappily and there's lots of stubs of unfinished old first drafts in there and we know Nojima went back and pretty much bludgeoned the script to pieces to fit his twists in, so it wouldn't surprise me if that line had totally been written by Toriyama under the idea that it was going to turn out to be Sephiroth later.
