too cold and dry for painting at the moment. My fingerprints have mostly vanished again leaving me with almost no grip / stick / friction / traction.
sef_lopod
a tendency to swing between an ephemeral near-frictionless non-existence and being a wallowing slime monster.

can oscillate to a satisfactory medium.

managed to get a little bit more painting done before #Strictly

dampen down before attempting the rest.

just been having another fight with the yellow and orange paint. It would rather stick to me than go where I want it and is often barely willing to come out to play at all.
sef_lopod
whether there's some consistent component causing the problem since it's the same colours being the most troublesome across several different brands.
Lemongrass
that's interesting. What is different about it? Stickier?
sef_lopod
firstly those paints are less inclined to cover well without showing through (more than warranted by merely being a pale colour). So cohesion is possibly not as good.
sef_lopod
secondly they are more inclined to jam up and stop working - which would possibly be too much gunky adhesion to the dispensing mechanism.
sef_lopod
the cold colours (purple, blue to dark green) seem to be the best but black and brown have also been OK. Similarly, silver typically works better than gold.
Arbieroo
what kind of paint we are discussing?
JigmeDatse
Arbieroo : I suspect acrylics, but not sure why.
sef_lopod
they are oil and solvent based whereas acrylics are water based. Unlike watercolours, they are supposed to cover the substrate without it showing through as a wash. So it's annoying when they fail to achieve that.
sef_lopod
there are some which are more chalky than the others too. It's very strange when they are not labelled matt and gloss/satin etc.
