In anatomy, we used to only have to know cow, horse, and dog and it doesn't really matter whether we study off the male or female. But now, we need to know both female and male of cow, horse, dog, and pig. In repro physiology, we need to know cow, horse, dog, and some pig,

cat, sheep, goat, deer, non-human primates... because there are species differences
