can someone explain bendy and the ink machine to me

primarily, like

there's this steadily growing fandom

and i can't tell if this is a situation like what happened with don't hug me i'm scared where people just go Hog Fuckin wild with like two bits of canon

or if there's just supplemental canon stuff i'm not aware of????????

cause like. the game is just like ten minutes of spooky adventure exploration and cool art

/don't listen to me I have no idea

and some jumpscares and the cutthroat world of early twentieth century cartooning

but, like

where are people getting personalities for any of the characters, or like, backstory, or............................anything?

they're not; it's all just fans having fun with speculation. I happened to follow one of the artists a lot of people are reblogging (they did a lot GF stuff first) they mentioned just throwing silly ideas around/playing with the designs

so as far as I can people have just been inspired by their designs

it's basically just people doing the Sans Undertale thing afaik

taking a character and doing what if and AUs and making Fanon etc

Her original comics were actually pretty good, I think. But then you got a bunch of people taking the idea and running with it. and many of them were not quite as skilled.

Ultimately pretty harmless, I feel. People are having fun, it's fine. Occasionally kind of annoying if it's not something you're personally into, but eh.

Yeah I was getting shades of sans undertale here
