my alfonse reasoning: look ok he's unique, you can't grind him up for skills or ditch him, he's not awful at the single thing he's capable of doing so much as outclassed,

he keeps popping up in missions because starter unit and they might add him to harder ones someday so he may as well contribute something and 2.2k is only a week or two of very halfassed arena
