okay I want to ask for two really dumb things for my birthday but I feel stupid because I have actual important things

I am going to tell you this because we are friends, and somehow in spite of heated arguments over pop culture minutiae, we remain friends

If your birthday is the wrong time to ask for dumb things, what's the right time?

Sorry. I felt like I had to impart that hard, high-fiber nugget of wisdom to you

it's cool. I just feel weird because it feels deeply irresponsible

I already feel worthless because making money is hard and I haven't gotten hired yet

So you're birthday is when frivolous things are okay! And like you can ask for those two things and maybe an important thing or two too. But like this is when you should get spoiled with things you might not otherwise get

I got the mattress looking at the price...it didn't come with anything else
