I keep having a problem which is that...I think that my general emotional breakdown this week was over the very real and immediate threat that is our current president

But...I feel like I'm a monster for not finding more things to do against him.

Like...I'm safe. At the moment. Ish. My rights are being taken from me but my life is not in immediate danger.

So I know I should act, because otherwise I'm just another person who let this happen to all of us. I mean. I have called congresscritters and all.

But it's not enough. I should do something real to help people but I just...I keep just breaking down into hysterics just reading the news.

I'm not even in real danger at this point! not like the people stuck in the airports because trump signed an executive order that puts them in danger of being sent to god knows where

Or the people at standing rock, who are almost definitely going to suffer the pipeline being put directly through their sacred land

Or the women who will die because they can't get proper medical care

But I just...I just keep falling apart even reading about it

I'm so useless. I'm another part of the problem, just passively watching as people die

I've been having suicidal thoughts for the first time in a year because I'm just...I'm so scared. I don't want to be here.

Congress' ratings are even more unfavorable, and now that their own party is in charge, they realize they'll be held accountable for everything they run through

there was good advice floating around, saying that its easy to get overwhelmed. pick specific things to call and focus on. they're doing so much to make everyone flail and split their attention

And despite all the gerrymandering and bullshit that went on, Dems have made a few gains in Congress last round. Given how unpopular congressional repubs are, we have some momentum
