I like Gordon Lightfoot because he's a folkie who sounds like he'd just as soon kick your ass as pick a guitar. That's cool.

Jim Croce is like that, too. Croce and Lightfoot are roughly interchangeable and it would be more efficient is we just combined them. Still, I give Lightfoot the edge. I think his songs are better.

Once, during a late-night shift at the NSA we played a game of Lightfoot or Croce.
PlurkDevi
It goes like this:
PlurkDevi
Me: "Lightfoot or Croce: 'Time in a Bottle.'"
PlurkDevi
Other person: "UMMM... UMMM..."
PlurkDevi
And that's how you play *Lightfoot or Croce" :-)

Croce!

(It's the only song of his I know)

I love Gordon Lightfoot but listening to him now makes me cry most of the time. My dad sang in a band, played guitar, and Gordon Lightfoot's voice sounds exactly like my dad.

why did I type guitar? He played banjo.

I like how he sings "gitche gumee."

But, wasn't that Edmund Fitzgerald in his The Wreck of the Gordon Lightfoot?
PlurkDevi
When I was a kid, Lightfoot's "If You Could Read My Mind" and "Sundown" struck me as spooky.

Ugh, yes. Sundown seems like it has a stalkery vibe to it.

I should probably listen to more Lightfoot. I grew up with both, but mostly Croce. Man, I just love his accent, which I cannot explain.
