I'd heard the bizarre spoilers before, but this is the first time I've heard the entire convoluted plot

Yeah... I've read it. It probably works better visually on stage but it's kind of a mess as a story.

as the reviewer points out, the stage effects must be pretty amazing

I read the whole plot when it was first leaked and thought 'it'll make more sense in context/with more details, right' and it did not.

I would like to see just how they even do some of the stuff in it onstage, though.
