EsperBot
[Tabletop] Since everyone else is doing it: campaigns I want to run! And plan to run once two of my current campaigns end!
EsperBot
All of these are in Valor, naturally.
EsperBot
1. The Valorous Frontier
EsperBot
Based thematically on the DC graphic novel The New Frontier.
EsperBot
Superhero action, set in the late 1950s America, where a first generation of (Golden Age) heroes has been driven into retirement, and a new wave of (Silver Age) heroes is rising.
EsperBot
EsperBot
EsperBot
There would be a Superman analogue, but he'd be an NPC.
EsperBot
2. Valor Trigger
EsperBot
In the near future, the Earth is repeatedly invaded by 'Neighbours' from other worlds who kill or abduct people randomly.
EsperBot
Fortunately, there's an organization that uses these invaders' technology against them, to keep people safe!
EsperBot
Based on World Trigger by Daisuke Ashihara.
EsperBot
Players would both battle invaders to keep their city safe, and engage in mock battles with other agents for position within the organization.
EsperBot
Part action, part sports!
EsperBot
Compared with the other two this one would have more strenuous houserules, although I don't plan on going nuts on them.
You're Quinner
I'd be down for Valor Trigger
EsperBot
3. Psyren Valor
EsperBot
No clever name for this one, alas.
EsperBot
Characters are drawn into a twisted game where they are transported to a wasteland filled with monsters and twisted things that look to have once been human, and tasked with reaching a destination.
EsperBot
If they do, they get to go back home temporarily, and if they do it enough times, they get to escape the Psyren game altogether.
EsperBot
But as it soon becomes clear, traveling to Psyren is not traveling to another world.
EsperBot
The monster-filled wasteland is in fact 10 years into the future.
EsperBot
Something happens between them and now to completely destroy EVERYTHING, and it's up to the players to, by traveling forward and back in time, figure out what and try to prevent it.
EsperBot
But hey, whatever fucked up the whole earth also gives you psychic powers when you travel through it, so at least you've got that going for you.
EsperBot
Based on Psyren by Toshiaki Iwashiro, a series with a magic system that maps almost spookily onto Valor's stats.
EsperBot
Like, seriously, in Psyren there are three main types of psychic powers: Burst, Trance, and Rise
EsperBot
Burst uses psychic power to affect the world around the user - telekinesis, pyrokinesis, etc
EsperBot
Trance uses psychic power to affect the minds of others and gather information; telepathy, clairvoyance, etc.
EsperBot
Rise uses psychic power to enhance the user's body. Rise is further subdivided into one type that makes you super strong and tough, and another type that enhances your speed and reflexes.
EsperBot
So, uh, Spirit, Mind, Strength, Agility, respectively.
You're Quinner
the funny part is neither of us mentioned Psyren ONCE during development
EsperBot
I don't doubt it! It's pretty obscure!
EsperBot
It just happened randomly to be one-to-one and onto!
EsperBot
Anyway, I realize Time Travel sounds almost completely unworkable, so let me explain why Psyren's version of it is super managable
EsperBot
1. No travelling into the past relative to your starting point.
EsperBot
You travel ten years to the future, and then back to the present, and that's it.
EsperBot
2. When you travel to the future, the future you land on is the future where you never came back.
EsperBot
You just vanish from the world at your point of departure on the timeline, and the world continues on without you until you pop out again.
EsperBot
The future doesn't change until you travel back and start doing thing differently. There are no on-the-fly timeline changes.
EsperBot
Point 1 means no grandfather paradoxes, point 2 means no meeting yourself, and the GM never has to make up what you did during the intervening time.
EsperBot
Anyway! Those are my three campaign ideas. And, assuming that I can muster up interest in one of them, once two of my existing campaigns comes to an end, I intend to run one of them.
EsperBot
(Two because I need to go net -1, and I'm about to add on Bleach Valor)
