[Meds Talk] Oookay no. This medication is not working.

lucineblue
I got put on clonazepam by the pyschiatrist just to test it out, two full pills twice a day

lucineblue
for my anxiety, right?

lucineblue
And the first week was really good! I noticed a definite lowering of my anxiety...

lucineblue
... but now I have trouble keeping my eyes open even when I'm mentally awake, and I can tell I've been having a long depressive episode.

lucineblue
like, yes, when I've had an emotional peak I have a habit of taking/needing a rest or nap, but this is literally making me feel mentally dull

lucineblue
and leading to bad/intrusive negative thoughts and fixations, which are definitely things I experience while depressed :/

lucineblue
I called the pharmasist and asked if I've been taking half pills instead of two full pills for a few days if I could just stop and they said it should be alright

lucineblue
since I've only been on them since the 10th?

lucineblue
but goddamn

lucineblue
I feel like I'm half awake and literally fighting my body to function

lucineblue
the funny thing is I recognize this as what i was experiencing at Dalhousie too. But there is not nearly enough stuff going on in my life to warrant such an extended low mood :/

Horny on Main
/hugs you tight

Ahki
I didn't like Clonazepam either

Hm... were you on a different medication that acts faster before you start on clonazepam? (e.g. Xanax or Lorazepam)

Hiraku917
I wonder if you might need to let your doctor know, that the pill is causing low mood in you

lucineblue
I've been on two pills of citalopram for about 3 years. but those were more about making my tolerance for things higher than actively calming my anxiety

lucineblue
i'm still on those pills, clonazepam is just the newest addition because i'm stable enough now to make evaluations about my mental state

lucineblue
like, two years ago I wouldn't have been able to go "nope this isn't right' half as quickly as I am now.

lucineblue
ah, I'm also on two antibiotics for my uh

lucineblue
arm condition

Hiraku917
Mmm... I'm guessing you didn't have the sleepy problem when you were only using citalopram

Hiraku917
But then citalopram can also make people drowsy... and with anxiety breakers like clonazepam, which in general causes drowsiness, that sounds like a double whammy on you.

lucineblue
like I said, I was prone to naps after really big anxiety spikes or long sustained higher (but managiable) anxiety, but now I'm absolutely -crashing- and unable to feel rested even when I do rest D;
