Hey Plurk, I need some help troubleshooting. I got up today, and my desktop boots straight to the BIOS screen and is unresponsive. :/
Sidonie
There were no symptoms of any impending systems failure of any kind.
Sidonie
It also is not responding to keyboard commands to enter the BIOS settings.

Alas, I have nothing of an actual helpful nature to add, but I can share this:

I take it that you unplugged and resecured the keyboard?
Tanarian
My BIOS screen kind of responds to the mouse moving, although it doesn't accept mouse input. What about yours?
Sidonie
I tried booting it with mouse and keyboard unplugged with same response.

From what I'm reading, it sounds like the hard drive died. >.>

[08:27:38] Cait: Sounds like hard drive failure.
[08:28:11] Cait: download a copy of puppy Linux to a USB stick, boot off that, and run hard drive diagnostic.

hops around doing the dance of rage and shaking her fist DAMMIT I haven't backed it up in.... forever. So much stuff is loooooost.
Tanarian
Don't count your hard drives before they're diagnosed... or something.
Sidonie
Does Cait think it will work when the HD isn't accepting commands?
Tanarian
It'll be running off the flash drive in the first place, so it'll tell you if it's completely gone or not.
