Watching Cops and seeing how easily 'friends' snitch on each other when faced being caught. Here's the thing: you're both going to be charge with the same thing regardless, so shut your trap. Seriously.
Paco Pooley
"Cops"...
Paco Pooley
sounds like a guilty pleasure
Zee
Paco Pooley : do you have that show in Germany? It's entertaining (LOL)
Paco Pooley
Zee : We have something similar. It is called "Autopsie" - it is mainly based on forensic investigations with RL cops beeing interviewed and mugshots been shown and all that.
Paco Pooley
The fun fact about this Show: The narrator in german is the dub voice of Dana Scully from the X-Files. And she has such a honestly wonderful but also tireing voice. So we always "watch" Autopsie to sleep
Paco Pooley
And Dana manages it to put us all 4 to sleep within minutes (LOL)
Zee
Paco Pooley : people are alive in Cops haha. But I love it cos is always the same "that's not mine officer, idk how the drugs got in my pants! I must have accidentally wore someone else's pants!" lololol

ROFL
Dakota 🐦‍⬛🪵
we have the "Justice Channel" with Bait Car, Ocean Force, Parco PI, Psychic Investigators, Psychic Detective, iDetective, Under Fire, and so on. Definitely feeds the police state narrative well.
Dakota 🐦‍⬛🪵
plus I'm the goody two shoes that called the police with the tip
Zee
Dakota 🐦‍⬛🪵 : we have the crime channel here. Or something.. I forgot what it is called. We also have cop shows for Australia and New Zealand
Dakota 🐦‍⬛🪵
hahaha, probably not as violent or dangerous as America's shoes on both sides of the law
Zee
but since guns are nearly impossible to obtain here, our shows isn't so interesting lol people don't resist, cops are not assholes and violent weapons are probably butter knife and paper cuts
Dakota 🐦‍⬛🪵
exactly
Zee
I really, really, really don't understand this readiness to spill though. We're so used to being told "say nothing, get lawyer" and you don't sing like a snitching bird.
Zee
In fact, there's nothing i despise more in a person.
Dakota 🐦‍⬛🪵
then you grew up in the streets... I am too honest for my own good
Zee
Dakota 🐦‍⬛🪵 : nah, just raised to never be a rat. It has nothing to do with honesty. If something illegal belongs to my friend and I'm questioned about it, I will choose not to speak and implicate.
Dakota 🐦‍⬛🪵
yeah, I think that might be what I do. When my friends are involved with the law, I tend to move out of the picture because I don't want to get involved
Zee
I've been in that position a few times in my short life and as soon as I am cleared, there's nothing anyone can do to me.
Zee
The truly guilty will slip and get caught out, but never from my testimony. That's the point.
Dakota 🐦‍⬛🪵
yeah that is a good thing
Dakota 🐦‍⬛🪵
quality
Zee
Dakota 🐦‍⬛🪵 : yeah. If, for example, you have drugs and I'm driving you around clueless to this fact, I'll still be arrested because I'm in charge of the vehicle.
Zee
So if I sing like a bird and snitch on you, I'd still be liable because of vehicular responsibility AND PLUS I'm a snitch.
Zee
So it makes zero difference. That's why I don't understand this willingness to snitch. Say nothing, lawyer up and be cleared in no time.
Adeline
If you cooperate with the police, you can get a better deal. There is not a person on this planet that I would go to jail for.
Zee
Adeline : it is still a 'deal', a 'deal' which you can get from the service of a good lawyer. So it still makes no difference.
Zee
I've never step a foot in a jail or cell and I've never 'cooperated'. But then again, I've always had decent friends who won't let other people take the fall for them.
Zee
I don't take very kindly to coward snitches.
Adeline
Not necessarily. The deal usually involves testifying in court against the other person. You help the district attorney prosecute the person using drugs, then maybe you do little or no time.
Adeline
There are so many people in the US in prison for drug crimes. The "war on drugs" has made it so people have ridiculously long sentences for small drug crimes.
Zee
Adeline : first order of business is really not to have friends who'd be so stupid, tbh. But still, nope. I'd rather do the time then be out as a rat.
Zee
If someone is apparently so 'vile', then why would I be friends with them, and when the going gets tough happily throw them under the bus to save your skin?
Zee
I've discarded 'friends' so pretty safe to say I'm not sticking with addicts (LOL)
NeedleNerd
If a "friend" puts me into a situation where I get implicated, suspected, and questioned because they are doing something illegal, and I didn't know, I don't consider them a friend any longer.
NeedleNerd
You just don't do that to someone you care about, I feel.
Zee
NeedleNerd : exactly. That's how I stick with friends who'd never let me take the fall for what they did.
Zee
If I was guilty of something and you happen to be there? I'll own up to it because I'm not putting someone else on the line to save my skin.
horrorz♥
Snitches get stitches
Zee
If a friend is guilty and throw me unknowingly under the bus, Ill still keep my mouth shut and leave it to the lawyer.
Zee
And then I highly suggest some form of protection because I'm not very forgiving about disloyalty.
Zee
NeedleNerd
I now have "Breaking the law, breaking the law" running around in my head.
Zee
NeedleNerd
Also, in that scenario, I don't feel obliged to keep quiet. This "code of silence" leads to too many problems. Witnessing this firsthand in our area where you know how shot you but you don't want to be a rat.
NeedleNerd
And your Mom and younger siblings have to sleep in the basement because they're afraid they're next, and the same people go and threaten hour Grandpa at his shop.
NeedleNerd
^your
NeedleNerd
Feuds in rural Ohio. I found that unbelievable when I found out.
Zee
NeedleNerd : I am first hand very aware of that. My town famously dubbed as my state's red light district, so you can imagine the 'unsavouries'. Tell on some strangers, I don't care.
Zee
But if I call someone a friend and someone calls me a friend, there is a certain amount of loyalty I expect.
Zee
Freaking out in the 5 mins cops are talking to you and you start naming names, that's a bit hilarious. If you're guilty, own up. If you're not, confidently say you had nothing to do with it and then full stop.
NeedleNerd
I HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT!
