[hamilton] ...i only just got the dual meaning of "we fought with him" for daveed and oak

my mind instantly went to Lafayette and Hercules every time....

i forgot about Jefferson and Madison....

The dual roles make everything a double meaning during that part, it's great.

Well, same for "I died for him" and "I loved him."

i was able to pick out "i died for him"

"i loved him" not so much because the ladies have one role each

........well peggy/maria not so much but as far as we know peggy didn't have a crush

"Me? I loved him" could be Peggy (loving Hamilton as a brother) or Maria (as his paramour).

(More likely Maria but eh)

Point is, even though "I loved him" and "I died for him" can work for both roles, they don't mean the opposite thing for each role--

like "we fought with him" does

for "I loved him", it's interesting because it plays with the expectations of the dual roles for everyone else. Like, it inverts what it is for everyone else

you kind of wonder after the first act that you got Angelica and Eliza being obvious and then you wonder how Peggy shows up and then she doesn't and it's Maria

and also sort of plays with Angelica and Eliza, since you don't realize Angelica's feelings until Satisfied
