So Forcillo got off on the most serious charge that he faced. But thankfully, he was not as fortunate when it came to his inscrutable second volley of six bullets that followed just 5 1/2 seconds later.
Bang after bang after bang after bang after bang after bang. Yatim was already lying on the floor of the streetcar, dying from a bullet to the heart, when Forcillo struck him five more times.
It was beyond justification or understanding — no matter how many times Forcillo and his team tried to explain it away as an “honest, but mistaken” belief that Yatim was rising and about to attack.
This was not a horror movie where the bad guy suddenly jumps up after being grievously wounded. Even the staunchest cops were left scratching their heads — what the heck was Forcillo thinking?
