Lord Nick
[RWBY] ... Welp
Lord Nick
That sure was a whole lot of world info followed by a WHAM episode ending
Lord Nick
And we know what Qrow meant by "Autumn's condition"....
Lord Nick
Aaaaaand we know what Cinder's deal is.
Lord Nick
Now I have to wonder if Mercury was in on this plan or if Cinder's going full Azula
Lord Nick
Also it's pretty clear that Ruby is going to be the summer Maiden, yes? And that Summer Rose was the one before her.
CJ
Oh, totally. Though I will say, I would have thought Yang more suited to the Summer role. Hotter than the sun in the middle of July and all that.
Lord Nick
Well, true. Could still be
Lord Nick
But I think Yang has something else going on. With whatever Raven's up to and her freaky eyes
augus
NO TWO SUMMERS ARE ALIKE nice double namedrop
CJ
No doubt. There's a lot more to that angle, especially with Yang's reaction to the picture of Raven.
CJ
augus : That is a very good point.
Lord Nick
There's something significant there with Raven's portal dealie appearing in all the intros. I don't think Yang's destined for Maiden status but she is significant somehow
Lord Nick
Unless all of RWBY gets to be one
Lord Nick
Ruby - Spring
Yang - Summer
Blake - Fall
Weiss - Winter
CJ
That's kind of what I was thinking. I mean, the four of them do correspond-- yeah, that's it.
augus
they do correspond I THINK I MAY PREFER IT IF THE POWER WAS SPREAD OUT but thematically things are pretty divided
augus
cinder favors fire but has half of fall's powers, THEN AGAIN HER LAST NAME, there's a named winter also
augus
it could be anyone's game
Lord Nick
Yeah, I just get the feeling that Yang's destined for Something Else.
Lord Nick
Kou, you know my theory on where Raven's been
augus
yang is the odd one out atm for sure
CJ
It does make me wonder if Qrow knows about Raven's whereabouts. I mean, if anyone would ...
Lord Nick
It has to do with the portals she uses. They show up in the intros so they're probably more significant than just being how she gets around.
CJ
I was thinking the same.
Lord Nick
My theory is that there's another world alongside Remnant, a dark vs. light world sort of deal, where the villains and maybe the Grimm originate.
Lord Nick
Much like how Qrow serves as Ozpin's eyes and ears in Remnant, Raven was sent to keep an eye on things in that other world. Or she went bad at some point.
Ken
Another question: is Winter a red herring? (Or is Summer?)
Ken
Also, Nick - is it just me or did I get some Dresden Files vibes off the whole maidens and passing power down thing?
Lord Nick
Hmm... so-so
Lord Nick
No, wait a minute! Der. Raven's most likely one of the Maidens.
Lord Nick
Possibly. No, wait. Hrm...
Ken
Her abilities do seem to exceed what one expects from Semblance.
Ken
Almost like... Magic.
