If a "delete" operation is non-instantaneous, something is always wrong, UX-wise. I don't care what internal processes are still going on to fully delete a resource behind-the-scenes. Just make it go away.

And of course, when I see "deleting... " stretch on and on, I can't help but wonder if I'm still being billed for this inaccessible thing which I only deleted because it never worked in the first place

Every now and then the screen does a full refresh, as if the UI itself is saying "still deleting? That can't possibly be right. I'll just refresh everything..."

I need to be up in 5 hours. Client is paying for any charges anyway, but I really wanted to turn everything off before I went to sleep.
