: yeah, hahaha ... i know! i love 'em. so contrasting. on one hand you have one of the most disciplined people in the world, but then they have this whacked culture & outlets so weird
my guess is that it's really an acute, culture-specific, version of social phobia exacerbated by the Japanese tendency for "social cohesion". if you fail, you bring shame to famiry.
nabanggit ba sa documentary yung connection between hikikomoris and otakus? there isn't any connection, but normal japanese people think there is a connection. Otaku = Loser = HIkikomori = Quitter
and oh, may "herbivore men" pa silang tinatawag. men who don't even have any interest in women, because courting women are seen to be "too risky, too much effort for so little reward"
i guess those are more detailed ideas ... but generally, people who can't figure out what to do in their lives. too afraid to make a mistake, & too afraid to act. just on different things i guess.
but yeah. i guess it's connected. the japanese conception of a "cohesive and smoothly-flowing society", their dislike for confrontation, and the weird .. OH!
Yeah. somehow it's an interesting topic. And I think Filipino culture is nearer to Japanese culture (language too! but that's another topic) and we get them more than Americans get them
hikikomori
.it's really a Japanese thing tho. more than naked robots and used panties.
