and he worries about the kids and grandkids way more than she does, in the end, because she sort of gets to a 'they'll have rad adventures' jadedness but he's always a little more ;;;;;;
and secretly also rehabilitates people, and all their staff are traumatized vets and rescued teenage YA heroes who need to be away from politics and around animals a bunch
tbh I feel like they probably lose Alex first because [/stares in horror at the canonical debacle that is the Summers family generally] but it's to like a warpsink comicbabble bullshit
but yeah the convenience store food thing - it was easy for him to shoplift and carry, so he ate a LOT of it during his homeless year and while it's not like ~traumatic memories~ exactly, he is still sick of it
but 1) his showmanship was not great and 2) he was so young that the attention generally meant people looking into him/calling the cops like 'hey someone help this homeless kid' so he stopped
