EvilCouch
So, I started a web series about performing arts:
The Gravity League - Morgue Anne
EvilCouch
Even though this means I need to get the second episode done in a tenth of the time of the first one, I feel like I have more free time.

I need to stop sucking and write your theme music already :-)
anisoptera
also, this is awesome!
EvilCouch
No worries. I know you have several full plates, counting each of your hats. And, thanks!
Shteevie
confused about how the title / juggling opener related to the interview with a burlesque performer. Editing was pretty crisp to listen to, but the jump cuts mid-sentence were awkward. Will continue to watch!
Morskittar
Very cool!
EvilCouch
Well, the logo bit is just branding. Me doing a head stall was to establish my bona fides as someone within the performance community. I can see how it would be confusing, though.
EvilCouch
There were a few cuts that I wasn't happy with. I'll definitely keep working on those. Thanks, Shteevie.
EvilCouch
Thanks, Morskittar.
Shteevie
congrats on Making Stuff! It;s a ton of work, I'll bet.
EvilCouch
Yeah. Future videos will look even better, since I have lens choices now. Gear isn't everything, but it's still really important. I'll probably get new post-processing software soon, too.
EvilCouch
All in all, this was probably about 20-25 hours of hands on work. Another 10 hours of rendering time. And I don't want to think about how much time researching cinematography and gear.
Shteevie
research is never really completed when it comes to hobby gadgets. You'll get faster as you go, with practice.
anisoptera
the worst is when you're learning how to do a thing and also how to use the tools
anisoptera
so you get ok with some set of tools, and then you're like, maybe i should check out this other set of tools, but then i'd be pushing back my learning how to do the thing...
EvilCouch
Yeah. Most of the research was fun, but it still involved a lot of late nights. Thankfully, I've spent 100-200 hours editing video and audio, so the learning curve hasn't been too awful.
EvilCouch
Although, I did only recently learn the "right" way to do color correction and grading. I fucked up my work flow on this episode, so I couldn't use any of that knowledge without burning ~5 hours
EvilCouch
just reprocessing footage to go into Resolve. It's not professional grade because it's easy to use. ><
