August does not have a lot of experience with scaling ones emotional reactions appropriately

Also they've had an instance or two where they've hit it off with someone in port and it's all "huh I think I may be making a friend?"

although at least one of those instances has been august overreacting to an understandably shocked initial reaction but given what can happen to mermaids in the wrong part of the ocean

their interactions will probably eventually involve shameless trolling, because August is obviously ever so more experienced in the ways of the aboveseas cultures
