Can people stop using the term "otaku" like it's a good thing?

I'm not a borderline hikkikomori that does nothing but sit at home and watch anime and it damages everyone else's name when you say "Myself and anyone who watches anime is an otaku"

No. I do other things. I have other hobbies. I have a job. Just stop. Kthanx

You're basically calling yourself a major creeper on top of everything else.

yeeeeaaah, it's not... very good

But everyone on every anime fan page ever is like "I'm such an otaku. herderder. And so is everyone else." And I would like very much to punch these people in the throat.
