i tend to headcanon that thranduil is best with the sword and the bow but just

generally speaking

you don't want to try to take him when he's holding any kind of weapon

he's kind of like really old and has kind of been in and indeed lived in really dangerous situations and really dangerous places for like a while

and he's a protector and cccccan be something of a perfectionist

and so with the sword especially - sword is his 'true' weapon, i'd say - is probably one of the most potentially dangerous people you'll ever meet

he's almost as good with a bow, but just

personality

it seems to me he'd favor melee more than ranged where given a choice. But ranged is frequently more practical and i mean he hunts

so he is a very very good shot
