If you could only buy one, 1) a treadmill, 2) an elliptical, or 3) an exercise bike for use at home, which would you choose and why?

I bought a treadmill when I had the option. I'm not sure why. It's just what I used in college and the elliptical wouldn't work in our basement.

The ceiling is too low.
Stephanator
I hadn't thought about ceiling height, but we have pretty high ceilings. So I doubt that would be a problem. I would like to put the equipment upstairs where I'm most likely to get the most use out of it.

Work out while watching tv, ya know
brainmusic
Yep! I have a tv downstairs for that reason.

My rooms are so small that I couldn't put it anywhere else.
heylisa
which one holds my clothes better when I'm not wearing them?

I have a Gazelle. Unlike any of those others, it's easy to assemble, inexpensive, folds up, low maintenance, not prone to breaking down.

Would go for an exercise bike
셸리
I am not a "running" person so that would be the best choice.
mindelei
Eliiptical. That requires a lot of stamina for me to do for any length of time, plus low to no impact on joints.
captainstardust
a gazelle just so I can fold that sucker up and shove it away when it's out of use
LarryCoffey
Treadmill. My opinion of bikes is that you don't "really" exercise sitting down.
Stephanator
LarryCoffey
, I tend to disagree on that point. I love exercise bikes, and they are great on my legs

, lol!

, great suggestion. My dad has had a Gazelle in the past.

, and lunakitty - thank you for your thoughts!

I'm really leaning towards an elliptical and/or exercise bike. It would be cool if I could get one of each, but I'm not sure yet.
Stephanator
If I can find a good price on a Gazelle, I'll consider it too.
