no one is writing obsessively devoted platonic relationships and intense psychological intimacy (to be known and understood completely) between mel and samira so i guess I've gotta do it myself

Mel's always wanted a sister. someone who she could trust. someone not chosen by her mother. Samira feels wild, uncontrollable. she reminds mel of a drakehounds, and Mel wonders if she can earn her loyalty, her friendship, her love, and keep it for the rest of their lives. so that she isn't lonely any longer.
