I think I know what’s bothering me about the Epic re-recordings It feels like Odysseus now is singing, instead of Odysseus before He sounds like he’s just tired and angry, now A lot of this feels post-Polites Odysseus singing, not Troy Saga Odysseus And I think the fact that Jorge himself was a little younger and just beginning the project (1/2)
impacted the sound and made the change from Troy Saga Odysseus to Odysseus at the end of Act 1 a lot more obvious And obviously not a lot of time passes for Odysseus in that time, but the sound is still different and it makes the progression of the character make more sense If that makes any sense at all
Okay no I don’t think that made sense I’m gonna try again So the original Troy Saga came out in 2022 So Jorge was two years younger, and it was the first saga that was released And the energy of that suited the energy the Troy Saga needed And now that he’s had two years to get into the project and really get into the character and especially the
darker parts of all of it, he’s progressed to the Underworld Saga, and that progress matches the progress of Odysseus’s character Like Odysseus’s voice changing, logically, doesn’t make sense, because his progression isn’t as much through time But that progress still impacted the sound and each stage of production suited where Odysseus was as a character,
I think So now we have Thunder Saga Jorge singing for Troy Saga Odysseus and the energy just doesn’t seem right because it seems more like the energy in more recent sagas Obviously I am not super knowledgeable on what it’s like to write a musical This is just the vibe I’m getting I think the best part of the whole musical is the progression you can hear
along the way So these new recordings just don’t sound right They sound beautiful, don’t get me wrong But they don’t sound right With the exception of My Goodbye, that was incredible But still The rest It was just a little off And I may just need time to get used to them, I don’t know But this is my first impression
